This will be my second time and I’ll be showing a lot of new landscapes all dolled up in frames and priced to sell! Most paintings are of the surrounding Santa Monica Mountains recreation area. Hills trees and pathways all through my eyes, I’m proud to unveil many new paintings.

The ranch is a gorgeous place and you can easily spend a lot of your day visiting the visitors center and strolling through the grounds. So I hope you’ll also stop by and see some beautiful art from all the artists I’ll be showing alongside.

I had been to this lake many times to hike and hang out with my family.  But this was the first time I really dove into the beauty of the lake in my painting.  Usually, I ponder the beauty of the lake but this day I really looked – it was an unreal blue that captivated my imagination.  As soon as I saw the green reflections of tall trees in the blue ripples, I knew what this painting was about.  I like to include a small “hook”. Something that really grabs me.  Sometimes it’s very apparent and sometimes much more subtle.  For this painting it was subtle.  I hope you enjoy looking at this as much as I do and that you can take away some peace and serenity almost feeling the chatter of families and artists as they spent their day looking upon this beautiful scene nature provided us with.

This is a juried selection of original representational art of locations within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Each selected painting will be identified with the location it depicts and noted on a large map of the recreation area.   There are many larger works but a wide variety.

I remember the amazing blooms on this morning. They were so beautiful bathed in the dramatic light that my attention went to the trail rather than the ocean waves hitting the rocks right next to me. The light changed so fast and so it was thrilling to try and get that impression quickly. I imagine walking up that trail and seeing the gorgeous view from above, I was really drawn to the strong lights and darks created by that time of day and the pop of yellow and green on the hills.

If you are able to come to the reception it would be such a great pleasure to see you there.

The subject matter is near and dear to my heart as it’s where I call home. For the last 2 years I’ve been creating very quick small gouache works all around the San Fernando Valley. It’s become really a part of who I am, the paints are always ready to go and I’m always looking for my next subject. These are fast loose explorations of color, time of day, interesting shadows, or intriguing locations.

I’m so happy to be part of this exhibit as I feel it is so important to be in touch with those settings that you see every day and find the beauty in them.

Please join me and several other very talented local artists as we give you our eyes for the night and show you how we see our home. I am exhibiting five small works in gouache and oil at the San Fernando Valley Arts and Cultural Center and one at Galeria Gitana. Please refer to the flyer for show information! It’s sure to be exciting and intimate and I hope to see you there.

I loved the Christmas Show at Galería Gitana which gave me an opportunity to show my “Kabocha Squash.” I was so proud that it was selected Best of Show by Scott Kiche, a painter I deeply admire!

I love this gallery and I surely had the perfect painting to fit its annual theme.  Had a blast meeting up with artists i revere and loved the chance to meet some new ones.  

The shows are always so professionally arranged and in a lovely setting in the San Fernando Valley.  Thank you all for coming and making my night!
