This painting truly was a moment of joy to create. The theme for this show fit perfectly as it was created on a particularly sunny and warm day and was the first allied artists paint out meeting in person since the pandemic started. So double the joy for me.
I had been to this lake many times to hike and hang out with my family. But this was the first time I really dove into the beauty of the lake in my painting. Usually, I ponder the beauty of the lake but this day I really looked – it was an unreal blue that captivated my imagination. As soon as I saw the green reflections of tall trees in the blue ripples, I knew what this painting was about. I like to include a small “hook”. Something that really grabs me. Sometimes it’s very apparent and sometimes much more subtle. For this painting it was subtle. I hope you enjoy looking at this as much as I do and that you can take away some peace and serenity almost feeling the chatter of families and artists as they spent their day looking upon this beautiful scene nature provided us with.
Please take a moment to view the show when it opens! Thanks so much! Exhibition dates for this show, “Moments of Joy” are Monday, June 21-Wednesday, September 1, 2021
I’ll virtually see you there!

Beautiful painting Victoria, I like your what appears to be a pallet knife approach.
Jay Johnson
Thank you Jay!! Yes its mostly knife and then some brush. Lots of scraping and small knife stokes. This approach has helped me be less fussy.
