On the way home from work I was stopped in my tracks with this pretty sunset. Pulling over to the side of the road I grabbed my gouache kit and quickly captured its essence. An exhilarating experience. This piece is framed and ready for a little nook. I am showing it here with two other small paintings.

This painting done on location at Leo Carillo State Beach, one of my favorite spots. Standing on a windy cliff I had a view of this Lifeguard station and the path leading to it. At the very end of my session a lady in red came and sat looking out over the ocean. I love to add life to the painting in the form of small surprises and she was the perfect addition. I also related to the peace she must have felt looking out onto the vast expanse of ocean.

Oil on Canvas Panel, 10 x 8 inches, 2017

Water and Earth come together in a splash of color and light.

Leo Carrillo State Beach is another of my favorite haunts in Southern California. Perhaps it is the nature of the water, or perhaps it is the air, but beach scenes carry something of the intangible,
something of the supersensible, which is nonetheless palpable and present to the eye of the painter.

A Regal King who humbles himself as one among many in the embrace of Mother Nature.

King Gillette Ranch is one of my favorite spots in the Northern Valley, a piece of Nature already in our midsts.
