Oil painting done en plein-air at Point Dume. Standing on the sand I quickly captured the crashing waves against the rocks. Endlessly fascinated by the shadow colors of the water created by the rocks. What is always lovely is to capture the life at the beach in this case it was that final touch of a bird flying by.

This little beach scene became my own when the man in yellow appeared and started searching for treasures. A very gray and sad day turned into my own treasure as he livened up the colors and provided the perfect element of life and compliment to the green mossy rocks.

This painting was made on one of my many trips to Point Dume. I love how the rocks are backlit in the sun and catching how the waves hit them. A beautiful day spent at the beach! I hope the serenity comes through!

I really like the way this one turned out: it has a certain modernist element, an element of vivid abstraction, which came of itself, without forcing it out.

This painting done on location at Leo Carillo State Beach, one of my favorite spots. Standing on a windy cliff I had a view of this Lifeguard station and the path leading to it. At the very end of my session a lady in red came and sat looking out over the ocean. I love to add life to the painting in the form of small surprises and she was the perfect addition. I also related to the peace she must have felt looking out onto the vast expanse of ocean.
